Othello In the Shakespearean tragedy of “Othello”, the character of Othello is acknowledged as an accomplished soldier and leader. He is a noble faux pas of heroic deeds who has lead an exotic life. Despite the imperial esteem in which society hold Othello, he does receive a number of flaws and weaknesses including a swear spirit, an inclination towards jealousy, ebullient pride and an inability to control his emotions. Whilst it is true that these character weaknesses in the long run lead to his downfall, the weaknesses only become patent due the usance of Othello, by Iago, a man who himself suffers from jealousy. Iago’s usage of Othello, to arrive at his own purpose, relies on Othello’s trust nature. From the beginning of the play, the earshot is conscious(predicate) of Iago’s plans for Othello when Iago manifestly states “I follow him to sue my turn upon him”.
